Class/Homework

Devo

Feedback- you should have gotten an email attachment from Mrs. Poling with feedback thus far. Feel free at this early date to resubmit posts and notify me via email to regrade them, if you are missing something. But this should help you KNOW where you are at in terms of the workload and your progress. I'm pleased that we are headed in the right direction!

AEA presentations in class.  Be ready to get up there and go!

Homework:

Task Two: Blog Post due Wednesday, Sept. 17th
This is an in depth response, reflection, it should be several paragraphs of your thinking, well written, cohesive, fluent, with your personality style included, and correct formatting, grammar, punctuation.  Basically I think this could take you an hour or more to write out.
  • titled Learning in the 21st Century Classroom
  • Share your synthesis, analysis, evaluation of learning theory, as viewed and read about online, and discussed in class together on Sept. 10th.
  • What does good teaching look like? sound like?
    • what tools are needed in a 21st century classroom
    • how are these tools used by students? teachers?
    • does your content area or grade level have specific needs for their learning environment.
    • how does your teaching philosophy fit with the new concepts you've been exposed to?
    • what part of the theory is confusing to you?
    • do you have wonders or see concerns, problems, or hurdles?
    • do you need more instruction and information on these theories (or one of these theories)? if so which one?
    • Find a link to a resource, video, or tool that you think fits your thinking about teaching and learning and include it, and explain how it fits.

Task Three: Extend Your Thinking-- for class on Sept. 22nd.  Quality Tools/resources (make a short post by class time)

  • think about what resources are on the internet that you know of. Do they fit into the ideas of learning we've been talking about?
  • are they quality resources? engaging? motivating? easy to use? relevant? free? age appropriate?
  • and then look at this list of potential tools for classroom teachers and explore 5 of them just to see what they are, how they are used, and start deciding if you agree with them or not.
  • What makes a good tool? resource? online activity?  when you find something web 2.0-- what helps you know that you or your students could learn using this application/tool?
A christian blogger shares tools for studying for college students

A wiki that allows you to post your ideas of tools, in a two page format, and all tools must meet and help bloom's taxonomy thinking.

A great PLN resource. Edublogs. This is their link of tools WITH  challenges and helpful how to use this tool. (it's not been updated so they may not all be the same, for instance wallwisher is not called padlet).
